The Mininote Un-Boxed in the UK !
Misco.co.uk Delivered my hp 2133 mini-note KX872AA today over a month early (compaired to the june rumors)! As you’ll have to understand I’m eager to mess around with it. It’s also available and listed as in stock on other online retailers. I’ll leave you with the un-boxing pics;
First Impressions :
I don’t care about the cpu speed I just think this is a great machine, heres what I like most about it;
- Stunning High Resolution screen
- Best Keyboard that I have ever had on a laptop
- Looks better than in the photos I’ve seen
- It belongs to me
Thanks Misco.co.uk

How’s SUSE been for you? I’ve been hearing some bad things on the forums, but hopefully those are either isolated occurrences or HP has fixed the included software. Either way, I’m curious - there’s been a huge lack of reporting on the linux versions of the mini-note!

@ josh, thanks.
@ opnickc, Well all in all it’s not that bad. I think that people are comparing it to the EEEPC xandros with fast init, which of course reflects badly on the mininote as it has a standard init process (which makes boot take the same amount of time as any standard linux distro). The worse thing about it is not having online repos, not being able to get new software is a pain. I’ll be either get a copy of mikes restore image or download the restore disk so that I can test adding online repositories without risking the default setup.

verry nice news man,
I really want it
but only the 1.6 Ghz version
But is it 100% sure it won’t come availlable in europe or what?

Amazing! I bought the US version, and it’s got a 104-keyboard. Being used to the regular 105-key with a large enter and the key between shift and Z, I’m really happy the UK keybard is a regular one.
Did you by chance get a phone number or e-mail address to HP UK for support and similar? I would *really* want to buy a UK keyboard to replace my current, US, version!
Thanks!

The only UK support number I could find is 0870 842 2339 the rest suggests visiting http://hp.com/support sorry for the late reply, I’ve had a very busy day.

Thanks for the info.
Meanwhile, I e-mailed HP support, so I’ll wait a few days to see if they have an answer for me. Eventually, I found their support page about spare parts, but it didn’t have the keyboard listed (bummer). Maybe they’ll reply with some useful info!
