HP Mini 1000 gets 3G

The HP Mini 1000 was set to get it’s 3G option in December but it would seem that HP surprised us by releasing it early. dplxy of Pocketables forum managed to get 3G up and running by contacting customer support from both HP and AT&T. All that needs to be be done is to get the hp driver from here unzip it with 7zip or winzip, double click swisetup to install, insert the sim and away you go.

Notebooks.com has a video of the unboxing of the HP Mini 1000, might be worth a look if you aren’t getting one just yet;

Instead of a manual, the HP Mini 1000 comes with a nice little poster with a picture of a Mini 1000 on one side and setup instructions printed on the other.

The AC adapter is very small and light, which should be expected on such a thin and light computer. The three-cell battery is a cinch to install and the vast majority of users won’t even need to red the instructions.

snappy boot times with XP

If more proof was needed that this machine would be better off shipped with XP rather than vista, checkout the XP boot time (same as OCed eeepc);

XP runs great on the MiniNote

bsumpter is reporting that XP runs very well on the mininote. I think this is very good news as IMHO XP is currently the most stable windows operating system. Read full post here.
