A video of the Boot time of the HP Mini 1000 and a short review has shown up on utube, thanks too myhpmini.com for alerting us to this. The operating system is Windows XP with objectdock;
Windows XP, boots boots and loads the startup programs in 1 minute and 10 seconds. That includes a program called object dock. We will soon see how Linux compares on the HP Mini 1000. Nice firefox wallpaper :). They also had a look at playing 720p video on the HP Mini 1000, playing a trailer;
He has been very busy making yet another great video showing world of warcraft running in the HP Mini 1000, seems very impressed with the performance of world of warcraft - wrath of king lich. enjoy;
Notebooks.com has a video of the unboxing of the HP Mini 1000, might be worth a look if you aren’t getting one just yet;
From the article;
Instead of a manual, the HP Mini 1000 comes with a nice little poster with a picture of a Mini 1000 on one side and setup instructions printed on the other.
The AC adapter is very small and light, which should be expected on such a thin and light computer. The three-cell battery is a cinch to install and the vast majority of users won’t even need to red the instructions.
Misco.co.uk Delivered my hp 2133 mini-note KX872AA today over a month early (compaired to the june rumors)! As you’ll have to understand I’m eager to mess around with it. It’s also available and listed as in stock on other online retailers. I’ll leave you with the un-boxing pics;
First Impressions :
I don’t care about the cpu speed I just think this is a great machine, heres what I like most about it;
well, this is old news but forum user wrbuckjr reported the mini note is available with fast shipping from newegg.com, you’ll still have to wait if you are in europe or if you want the linux version as it soldout fairly quickly. If you must have the hp2133 now, their are sellers on ebay shipping internationally, quite expensive…
Pictures of the minnotes insides have been posted on the forums thanks to following members, parishm and barcher; who were brave enough to open their mininotes;
It’s been quite an eventful week as far as linux on the mini-note is concerned, violajack reports that “3d effects†works on suse linux which has been confirmed by others and progress has been made on getting ubuntu 8.04 to work correctly it’s variants should work using a similar if not identical method thanks to kaffeboy who wrote an article on the wiki about this, and other forum members for looking into this. A day-zero recovery image is available to owners of the hp2133 Thanks to MikeZ and other posters on the netbookuser.com forums for this. A Gentoo installation disk/live cd which supports the mininote will soon be released(I’m assuming that it supports the wireless device to allow downloading of stage tarballs, etc? more to come on this). Without things like fastinit and the simpleui (simple mode) offered by the EEEPC their is nothing keeping you from trying other distros on the miniunote and the HDD also allows lots of room for dual boot options.
